Strange/Buggy? behavior of context variable in SAP BPC 10.1 NW embedded

Dear SAP BPC 10.1 NW embedded experts,

I have a problem with BPF's context values, when the values are set from Identity Dimensions, and from the members of the Driving Dimension.

I think it is a bug, but feel free to correct me.

So I have the following scenario:

  • I have created a BPF process template and activity with the following settings:
    • Identity Dimensions:            Fiscal year variant, Fiscal year, Company code
    • Driving Dimension:              Cost Center (which is compounded with Controlling Area)
      • Members:                    G1010000000001; G1010000000002 (from hierarchy)

  • In the Activity I open an Analysis for Office workbook which includes a Query requesting input variables. I set the values of all the variables from workspace context. Save, validate, deploy… so far so good.

  • I have created a Process Instance where I have set the values for the identity dimensions, owner, etc. In the Process Instance I have the right amount of activities (activity number * selected members of the driving dimension, which in my case is two)... so far still so good.

BUT, after I started the process, opened the activity and clicked on the hyperlink something strange happened:

The input variable window of the query popped up every time even though the values are coming from the context. I have set those in order to avoid this window to pop up. And I realized that somehow the values coming from context are not “properly” set. In my case when I click on the first activity related to the member G1010000000001 (=> Cost Center: 0000000001; Controlling Area: G101) I get the following values:

                Context_from_dimensions_and_members_NOW.jpg

Somehow the values of the compounded dimensions (Contolling Area + Cost Center and Fiscal Year + Fiscal Year Variant) are "incorrect" / not "separated". I think this is a bug and this should be like this:

                    Context_from_dimensions_and_members_SHOULD_BE.jpg

I am able to achieve the desired settings if I unlock the context variables in the process template then I create a new instance and I set the values of the context variables by choosing a desired member of the particular dimension from the drop-down list but this is not how I want to do.

Is it a BUG? Am I doing something wrong? Enlighten me. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Best regards,

Tamás Szántó
